The Enchanted Forest Part 3

The next morning I woke up to the sun shining through the window. I felt a surge of excitement run through my body and I couldn’t lie still any longer. I got cleaned up and ran down the stairs into the dining room. Esmerelda was already sitting at the table waiting for me. I apologized for being late and sat down.

While we were waiting for breakfast to be brought in Esmerelda asked if there was anything special I wanted to do today. I told her I wanted to go see what had happened to my friends and family. That I missed them terribly. She agreed to take me to see what had happened.

I thanked her, and we sat in silence for about ten minutes until breakfast was served. Everything smelled so delicious I had almost forgotten about the plans for the day.

The maid piled up a huge heaping serving of eggs, bacon, hash browns, toast, and a bowl of oatmeal. There was so much I knew I would never be able to eat it all. I started to eat, and suddenly we heard someone calling for Esmerelda from down the hall.

She looked at me and told me to continue eating; that she would be right back.

I shrugged my shoulders and dug in. Everything tasted as good as it smelled. After a few minutes, Esmerelda came back into the dining room and sat down to eat. When we were done she asked me if I wanted to be human again and go back home.

I told her yes with so much excitement she started to laugh. She walked over to me, placed her hand on the top of my shoulder, and said something I couldn’t understand.

Next thing I know, I was standing in front of my house and was back to being human again.  I smiled and ran back into the house promising to never take life for granted again.
